Prof. Fei Sun is a Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, HKUST. Before joining HKUST in 2014, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Caltech (supervisor: Frances H. Arnold, 2018 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry). He obtained Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 2012 (supervisor: Chuan He, 2022 Wolf Prize Laureate in Chemistry) and B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University in 2007. His research interests include materials synthetic biology, protein engineering, optogenetics, chemical biology, and regenerative medicine. He is the awardee of NSFC Excellent Young Scientists Scheme (2021) and the Hong Kong RGC Research Fellow (2023).
